Conversion of Vitamin B 6 Compounds to Active Forms in the Red Blood Cell BARBARA

چکیده

This work was presented in part at the 8th International Congress of Haematology, Munich 1970. Received for publication 30 November 1970 and in revised form 25 February 1971. Pyridoxamine was converted to active forms in red cells less efficiently. Pyridoxal entered red cells rapidly, equilibrating between plasma and cells within 1 min in the same ratio as pyridoxal formed inside red cells. Pyridoxal phosphate did not enter red cells in whole blood but did so readily in washed cells in saline.

Conversion of vitamin B 6 compounds to active forms in the red blood cell.

In studies with pyridoxine and other B(6) compounds in blood, the active forms pyridoxal and pyridoxal phosphate were measured by differential assays using Lactobacillus casei. Red cell uptake of tritiated pyridoxine was also measured. A new metabolic pathway for conversion of pyridoxine to active forms was demonstrated in red cells. In vivo studies in normal subjects suggested that pyridoxine ...

The Status of Packed Red Blood Cell Transfusion in Besat Hospital of Hamadan in 2009-2010

Abstract Bachground and objectives: Higher than needed blood orders not only adversely affect blood quality but also impose extra expenses on treatment center and patients. We aimed at determining the frequency of packed red blood cell transfusion in Besat hospital of Hamadan in 2009-2010. Material and Methods: This was a descriptive study on 926 blood order forms in Besat hospital. The data we...

Competitive inhibition of copper amine oxidases by vitamin B hydrochloride in chickpea

Copper amine oxidases (CAOs) catalyse the oxidative de-amination of biogenic amines which are ubiquitous compounds essential for cell growth and proliferation. The enzymes are homodimers containing both topaquinone and a Cu(II) ions as cofactors at the active site of each subunit. After extraction and purification of chickpea (cicer arietinum) amine oxidase by chromatoghraphy, Km and Vmax of th...

Prevalence and Haemolytic Significance of Red Cell Antibodies among Dangerous Universal Donors in a Tertiary Care Hospital in South India

Background and Aims: A subgroup of group O individuals called ‘dangerous universal donors’ have immune (IgG) anti A and anti B antibodies which are active at 37˚C and capable of reacting with the red cells and causing lysis. The aim of this study was to find the prevalence of dangerous O group among the voluntary donor population and to assess the relation between the degree of haemolysis and t...

بررسی پهنای توزیع گلبول‌های قرمز متعاقب ایجاد تجربی آمبولی ریه در خرگوش

Background & Aims: The purpose of this study was to survey red blood cell distribution width after experimentally induced pulmonary embolism in rabbit. Due to oxygen transfer performance of red blood cells, the survey of their special forms and passable widths through the vessels in many diseases is vital. One of these diseases is pulmonary embolism in which red blood cell distribution wid...
